yoga Nidra

Contact

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation. The practice usually involves lying still as you are guided into a state of profound relaxation.

Yoga Nidra is also referred to as yogic sleep. It is different to our usual state of sleep because although our bodies are in a state of deep relaxation, our minds are aware and conscious. In this way, Yoga Nidra allows us to achieve a unique state of mind.

Scientific studies have confirmed that there are many physical and mental benefits to the regular practice of Yoga Nidra. It is widely employed for the management of insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress and stress-related disorders.

Yoga Nidra meditation has the potential to move you from a state of  overwhelming fatigue to a real sense of rejuvenation.

hatha yoga

Hatha Yoga involves combining yoga postures (ananas) with different breathing techniques (pranayama). In general it is more slow paced compared to other yoga styles. â€‹It can be practiced either seated, standing or lying down.

Simple breathing exercises work alongside the postures  to help you to achieve a state of relaxation, balance  and inner calm.

Compared to other types of yoga, Hatha yoga is often viewed as slower-moving and more gentle and has quickly become the most popular type of yoga in the west. It is commonly recommended for beginners as it gently builds strength, balance and flexibility.

All positions can be modified to suit everybody's ability, for example anyone who needs to be seated during the session, or those doing chair yoga.

restorative yoga

Classes

Restorative yoga is a style of yoga that encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It is gentle, supportive and is an appropriate practice for all abilities. It is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds, stillness, and deep breathing.

As the name suggests, this style of yoga “restores” the body to its parasympathetic nervous system function - ‘the rest and digest’ part which, helps the body rest, heal, and restore balance. The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for slowing your heart rate and breath and increasing blood flow to your vital organs, among other things.

Props, like blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps are used so that you are supported in your pose comfortably. You will then hold the pose for an extended period of time. This practice is great to balance an active yoga schedule.
